What's new in MathFlow 1.8?

Arbortext specific:

  • The default rendering engine now highlights MathML errors in red.
  • The default rendering engine now supports <mspace linebreak="newline"/>.
  • The Java rendering engine can be used for Arbortext preview images.

XMetaL specific:

  • Support for XMetaL 5.1.
  • Faster equation rendering now highlights MathML errors in red.
  • Faster equation rendering now supports <mspace linebreak="newline"/>.
  • Invalid MathML no longer causes XMetaL to crash.

For Arbortext and XMetaL:

  • Support for Windows Vista.
  • There is now an optional user-defined Operator Dictionary where the properties of operators can be modified.
  • The attribute for storing the temporary file name of preview images (originally altimg) is now configurable.
  • Corrected the phi/phiv problems in most fonts where the characters were switched.
  • Improved handling of multiple font styles.
  • Fixed behavior of stretchy right arrow in tables.
  • Assorted bugs have been fixed.

Who should upgrade to MathFlow 1.8?

If you are using XMetaL 5.1, you need this upgrade to be compatible. Even if you have not upgraded your XML editor, MathFlow includes a lot of new features -- see "What's new in MathFlow 1.8" above.

Do I need to uninstall my current version of MathFlow in order to upgrade to MathFlow 1.8?

Yes, you must first uninstall your current version of MathFlow Editor prior to upgrading to MathFlow Editor 1.8. Complete instructions are included on the MathFlow Download page (requires password).

Is MathFlow 1.8 a required upgrade?

MathFlow 1.8 is a required upgrade for XMetaL 5.1 users. It is a recommended, but optional upgrade, for anyone using Arbortext or older versions of XMetaL.

Is MathFlow 1.8 a free upgrade?

MathFlow 1.8 is free to MathFlow licensees with paid maintenance. If your maintenance has lapsed, you must pay before you can upgrade. Please contact our sales department for more information.

How do I obtain a copy of MathFlow 1.8 if my maintenance is current?

Download MathFlow 1.8 from the MathFlow Download page. You will only be able to access the downloads page if your maintenance is current. You do not need a new license file. Contact our sales department if you have any questions.
